On this day I will take you to different places in The Gambia. You are certainly not in the car all day, we stop approximately 30 to 45 minutes. We visit the following places:

Tanji (Visserdorp)
We are the first to go to the Kachikally Crocodile Pool. You get information and the crocodiles are very clearly visible. The crocodile ponds are holy ponds that are used for fertility rituals. Then we go to Serrekunda Market. A colorful African market where you can see and buy many local products. Then we continue to Lamin Lodge an important oyster collection point. After all these impressions we drive to Paradise Beach. At Paradise Beach is a cozy beach bar where you can have a delicious lunch. Paradise Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Gambia. Here you can laze on a beach bed but also take a beautiful beach walk or take a refreshing dip in the sea. For all this is ample time. We continue to go to Tanji at the end of the afternoon. You see colorful fishing boats coming in with the catch of the day. Tip: Take enough sunscreen and water with you!
ROOTS Trip
Pick up from the entrance of your hotel. A 30 min drive to Banjul sea port (capital city) and across the ferry to Barra. And join on transport to visit “Albreda-Jufureh”wich are the two most historical towns in The Gambia. As far as the history of The Gambia with regards to is concerned. A visit to fort James Island, wich changed hands from the Portuguese, The Dutch and then finally, the English. A 200 hundred years of history that give you an insight into what happened in those days.And a history that no one should be blame for because we were all involved, Europeans and Africans alike. If you had read the book (ROOTS) or watch the movies then see in reality.
One day tour: Senegal (Fathala game reserve)
A drive to Banjul and across the ferry to Barra, the first town in the north of The Gambia, (foot passenger on the ferry). And then then join our jeep to The Gambia border town of “Amdalai”. Have your passports stamped and then on to Senegal border town “Karang”, where the same process will be repeated allowing you an entry visa into Senegal. And thirty minutes drive take us to Fathala Game Reserve that encloses 2000 hectares of Natural and protected forest. Have the opportunity to visit the original stretch of the African wilderness. Drive amongst herds of Antelopes crowned by western Giant Eland the rasest one. Drive up to Giraffes, Rhinos and buffaloes and an opportunity totouch Lion cub. And lunch on the way back coupled with ice cold soft drinks, Bottle of water and fruits all day long. A drive to one local village for a short village walk if time permit us, and back to Barra.
Two hrs Cruise
8am-2pm Are you interesting in just a quiet, relaxed and thrilling cruise in a Dog-out canoe, and also crave for a stimulating and refreshing site seeing? The 2 hrs cruise is what you looking for. This intriguing tour takes you on a two hours cruise in a Dog Canoe through the hushed creeks. Be assured of the gliding and perching an the mangroves. And cool breeze laced with the sweet smell of the earth and decomposing leaves. You cruise back to a plank resturant at Lamin Lodge for a reflecting lunch or drinks. Then get ready for a drive to Abuko Nature Reserve, the oldest protected reserve for animals. A 50 mins leisurely walk through the reserve more species of birds could be seen again. Drive back to hotel.
Two days Georgetown
7:00am Join this fabulous 2 days trip, approximately 300km up river and experience the “Real Country”. We start early and proceed directly by road to “JANJANBUREH” passing through various villages on the way. From the south bank of The Gambia and to our Babolong Camp. Ather lunch and some relaxtation, we board our transport to proceed to Wassu to explore the area of the mysterious stone Circle. And from there we join on our 3hrs boat trip on the river Gambia. A stop at Baboon island to visit the Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center, a good oppotunity to spot Hippos and Crocodiles in the wild. Dinner, entertainment by the Mandinka women, over night stay in good lodges. And day 2 depart at 8:00hrs after breakfast. A tour of colonial slave market, the under ground slave house and the remains of the coloial Era. Drive back through the north bank od The Gambia and a stop at one major town for lunch. A final drive to our respective hotels (an opportunity to experiece the diverse culture, Tribe and History of The Gambia)
Bijilo Forest Park (Monkey Park)
There is a 4.5 km nature trail in the park Park. There are many green monkey’s. The forest is also home to a diverse reptile fauna including agama, rainbow and monitor lizards, and some colourful insects and invertebrates including fire ants, dragonflies, termites, butterflies, and the golden silk orb-weaver.
The Royal Albert Market
The Royal Albert Market in Banjul can be visited during one of the excusions. t is a lively market with small alleys, various merchandise, stalls full of glittering fabrics, shoes, household items, hair extensions, clothing, meat and a huge fruit and vegetable market. There are also stalls for a snack and a drink. Try the Domoda, which is undoubtedly offered. This is a dish of fish or chicken with peanut sauce. There is of course also a part on the Albert market where African carvings and other art are sold; drums, wooden masks and hand -painted canvases
Birdwatching excursions
The Gambia is known as birdwatchers paradise. The Gambia region boasts a rich avifauna of some 660 species, about a third of which are migrants, largely from the Palearctic. Of this total about 540 species have been recorded from The Gambia alone. I know when and where to go! The habitat or places you can visit for birdwatching, include:
- The Tanji bird reserve.
- Abuko nature reserve.
- Kartong wetlands.
- Marakissa woods.
- Tujereng woods.
- Makasutu cultural forest.
- Tendaba camp and Georgetown can be visited for overnight trips.
